Frequently Asked Questions

Here at Boston Wedding DJ, we strive to make the planning process a breeze so you can focus on enjoying the excitement leading up to your date!

Below are a few FAQ’s that couples typically ask. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions by giving us a call or sending an email.

What is the process in securing a DJ?

Typical workflow for securing a date would include an outline of event options and details to send out a potential work order, sample contract and planner. You can also fill out a Check Your Date page here and schedule a call.

A payment of one-third your package price with a signed contract would secure services for your date. The second payment would be due two months to your date where we check in and make sure you have a planner. Your third and final payment would be due two weeks to your event where we look at the planner and start to wrap up pre-production notes. If at any time we can answer any questions or provide options, we are available.

I HAVE SPECIFIC SONGS I WANT. HOW DO I REQUEST THESE?

You will receive a PDF of our planner, or you can fill it out on our website. This has a playlist, a do-not playlist, a must-play list and includes all the information we need to make your wedding day flow smoothly. There is space to add any notes you would like. This document is used by your DJ and a call will be scheduled within two weeks to your wedding date to review the details.

You can give as many details, broad or specific, as you would like when filling out your preferences.

I’m not sure which upgrades I want. Can I add them later?

Absolutely! A wedding DJ package is needed to secure your date. Lighting, photo booth, graphics, dancing on clouds and mini setups can be added at a later time. We recommend finalizing the upgrades two months to your date to confirm the equipment and labor is available.

Where can I view videos and photos of production?

Boston Wedding DJ features over 300 photos and videos of introductions, mixes, mini-setups, lighting and gobo designs on our DJ Packages page – here, and our Lighting and Gobo design page here.

What is a gobo?

A gobo is a projection, typically on the wall, dance floor or facade. Offering custom graphics, we can work with you on the design, name and date or animation. You can see a sample of our designs here: BostonWedding-DJ Gobo Samples.

Is Boston Wedding DJ on social media?

Yes, we are! Our social media links are listed at the bottom of each page. Click follow, we follow back.

Can I let guests request songs?

If selected “Yes” on the planner, Boston Wedding DJ will accept requests at the DJ booth and guests can also Post @WeddingDJ.Boston or Tweet @WeddingDJBos to request. If “No”, the playlist will be kept closed. We always honor your do-not playlist when requests are submitted from your guests.

DO I NEED AN AUDIO EXPANSION?

This will be confirmed at the time of booking. Generally our base audio system is rated for up to 150 – 175 guests. We have expansion systems for larger parties and outdoor events.

WHERE ARE YOUR DJ PROFILES?

We do not offer profiles. Instead, we select a team for your date based on your preferences and package. In response to Covid-19, this allows our team to continue to provide uninterrupted 5-star service.

WHAT KIND OF BACKDROPS DO YOU HAVE FOR PHOTO BOOTH?

Standard backdrops are fabric, including satin, silver sequin, or blurred lights. Premium backdrops such as hedge style or custom printed available upon request for an additional cost.

DOES THE DURATION INCLUDE SETUP AND BREAKDOWN?

Our package hours are for the event time. Cost for setup and breakdown are included in the base package price.

HOW LONG DO YOU NEED FOR SETUP AND BREAKDOWN?

Times will vary depending on the package. Generally, we arrive 1.5 to 2 hours prior to our start time and breakdown within 1 hour after event conclusion. Larger packages may require longer times or additional personnel pending any venue time restrictions.

DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Yes, a copy of our insurance is available upon request and is sent to your venue within 2 months of your event date.
